I can't remember her name, but there's some opinionista who claims that she's been warning the Left for _years_ about how our caring about the #MeToo movement and the rights of trans people and immigrants and everyone who isn't a default 'person' in America, a.k.a. a RealAmerican®, we'd alienate voters…for our own good, to keep the Left from losing, she basically suggested that we just not be the Left. (I think she was also complaining about being 'canceled[sic]' because she had the temerity to suggest that some celebrity/rapist wasn't all that bad…, but I could be wrong about that.)
I will note that this is exactly _not_ how the Right gained the dominance it did…they had the advantage that they could hide-out in the private sector as long as needed because for some reason persons natural and artificial with tonnes of money were happy to keep paying them, but more to the point they never stopped worrying at their favourite chew-toys and waited for something like an Overton Window and general vulgarisation helped people not feel revulsion at them.
